wonderful places around Nashik

In previous blog we gave you most possible information about Nashik and with this blog, we are here to give you more about places to visit around and near Nashik, though all depends on which way you are proceeding towards...

If you moving towards Mumbai, then take a stop on the way for:

PANDAV LENI CAVES: A cluster of Hinayana Buddhist rock cut caves dating back to the 1st century BC, the Pandavleni Leni caves are located on the Trivashmi hills. Remarkably carved doorways and brilliant sculptures are the main characteristics of Pandavleni caves, which might have been used as the dwelling places of the monks. The cave houses idols of Buddha, Jain Teerthankara Vrishabhdeo, Ambikadevi, Veer Manibhadraji and Bodhisattva. The interiors of the caves were popular meeting places for disciples, where sermons were concerned.
JAIN MANDIR: A huge newly built temple complex dedicated to Jain saints, This pretty three-storied shrine presents a different architectural grandeur than that of the other temples. Shree Dharmachakra Prabhav Tirth, which is popularly called as Jain Mandir is constructed with white marble and pink sand. The ground floor of these eloquent building houses a Pravachan Hall, where sermons and meditations take place "Choumukhji" is placed in the first floor and the third floor is reserved for "Ashtapadji". One among the deities of this Mandir is the 24th thirthankara of the Jains. This deity weighs a whopping 12 tons and it is made up of Panchdhatu. located at Vilholi on Nashik- Mumbai highway.

ANJANERI : the birth place of Lord Hanuman. located on Trimbak road, 25 km from Nashik. Nice place to visit, old caves and temple to worship for lord Hanuman. The place is named after the mother of Lord Hanuman, Anjani.


VEDA MANDIR: Built with a noble intention of imparting Indian culture, Vedas and Puranas, Veda Mandir at Nasik accommodates students from all over India and also free training and education on Ved-Puranas. Veda Mandir was founded by a private trust and its premises houses an elegant temple, which is a classic example of modern architecture. The entrance to the temple is very large and ornamented with attractive glass. The interiors of this pretty shrine are laid with Italian Marble. The temple contains the idols of Lord Ram, his consort Sita and Laxman.


TRAMBAKESHWAR : one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, 30 km from Nashik via Trimbak road. This is the place where the Kumbha Mela is held every 12 years. Last was in year 2003 aand next will be held in 2015 from 15th August to 13th September.

Lastly,  IGATPURI : On Nashik - Mumbai Highway. Located about 30 km from Nashik. There are multiple resorts available for a weekend get-away.

If you are moving towards AURANGABAD, then take a stop on the way for:



YEOLA : 80 km from Nashik, between Nashik and Aurangabad. Famous for hand woven Patina saris (traditional sari), Yeola is a major handloom weaving centre and the silk saris, shalus and Paithanis woven here find a prominent place in Indian and foreign market. It is also famous for gold and silver wire. Places of interest include the Muralidhar Temple and the Parshvanath Temple.

SHIRDI : Its about 90 kms from Nashik and very famous the world over for Sai Baba, but you have to have patience, as the queues can be infinitely long.

SHANI SHINGNAPUR : The presiding deity of Shinganapur, Sri Shaneshwara or Lord Shanidev- the personification of the planet Saturn is worshipped with utmost reverence and devotion by people from all over the world. A unique aspect of this place is that no temple structure houses the Shanidev, there is only a simple platform on which stands the swayambhu (self generated from earth) idol, in black stone.

If you are moving towards PUNE, then you have a chance to see:

SINNAR: About 30 km from Nashik on the Nashik-Pune highway (NO 50). The Yadav period (11 A.D.) Gondeshwar Shiva temple has interesting architecture and stone carvings.

SANGAMNER : About 65 km from Nashik, along the Nashik-Pune highway It is situated on the Pravara River and it is one of the most developed cities in the area. The city got its name because it is on the site of the confluence (sangam) of three rivers in the area: Pravara, Mhalungi, and Mahanuti. It is famous for its cloth market, educational facilities, sugar factory, agriculture, and tobacco products Gaichhap (Cow Brand) and hattichap (Elephant Brand).

So, wherever you proceed from Nashik, its still many places to visit and see for their Pilgrimage, architectural, shopping, holidays or simply weekend gate away is just a short distance away.
